Htet in the snow

Hi! မင်္ဂလာပါ

My name is Htet /tɛd/.
I'm an interdisciplinary designer studying Information Science and Human-Computer Interaction at Columbia.

How I get into Design

01

I discovered my love for design in an unexpected place: while preparing presentation slides for a civil engineering class.

Instead of rushing through them, I found myself spending extra time thinking about layout, visuals, and how information could be communicated clearly.

02

What I love about design is the freedom it offers. Creating something myself, like a logo or an icon as a transparent PNG file, feels strangely satisfying. There were times when it was difficult to find company logos with transparent backgrounds, and being able to make them myself removed that frustration. As long as I have ideas and the right tools, I can turn those ideas into something real.

03

That curiosity led me to start working as a graphic designer. At the same time, I have always admired what engineers build and how technology shapes everyday life. I began searching for a place where creativity and technology intersect. That is when I discovered product design.

04

Now I want my designs to go beyond static screens. I want to bring them to life and create experiences people can actually interact with. That is why I am learning to code. I want the things I design to not only look good but also work in the real world.

If I'm not designing,
